Getting to Mui Ne by Train
The train left Ho Chi Minh at 6.45AM and 7.30 AM during weekdays and 5.30 PM during Saturday and Sunday. It takes 4 hours to get to Muong Man Train Station. You need to bet at train station 15 minutes before departure. This is great way to interact with local. There is a dining car at the front where you can sit and some ladies came through with a trolley of snacks and drinks. There are power points by most seats so you can charge devices if you like. From Muong Man Train Station, you need to take a taxi to travel to Mui Ne Beach. It is 22 km away from train station (45 minutes of driving). The train is also fun but it will incur a cab ride at either endPrice: 9 USD/ 1 pax
Advantage of taking train: No horns, you can get up and walk around, there is a food cart and a dining car, you can drink all you want and not have to worry about stopping at a rest room, and you arrive much more relaxed.
You will need to buy your ticket the day before to be sure of a seat. When you get to Phan Thiet train station, you can take a meter taxi to take you to Mui Ne beach for about 300,000VND ($15USD). Taking train from Ho Chi Minh to Mui Ne is not the most direct way, but much more relaxing than the bus - and you can enjoy a few beers and a pho bo (beef noodle soup) in the 1940s style restaurant car
You can pre-book the tickets through Vietnam railways or similar. They can deliver to your hotel and weekend train travel (gets very busy). It may cost a little more but you get peace of mind. You can book train ticket from Ho Chi Minh to Mui Ne online at Yourlocalbooking.com
